How can social responsibility and innovation be brought together to create socially accepted products and services that break into market?
While solving a hands-on business case provided by the Adidas group, 30 students from different IDEA League Universities (ETH Zürich, TU Delft, Chalmers University of Technology, Politecnico di Milano, and RWTH Aachen University) tied into this challenge from December 2 to December 4, 2016.
Under the motto of "Social Responsibility and Innovation” the students approached the given task with the method of design thinking. Within the scope of an iterative cycle they designed a prototype which was presented to the participating experts at the end of the weekend.
The Challenge Program enables carefully selected students to participate in a program which addresses the reciprocity between technology and society. Each university presents and supervises real and hands-on issues and hosts the group on thematically related weekends.
Within the course of this year’s program, the Chair of „Gender and Diversity in Engineering“ (GDI) under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Carmen Leicht-Scholten was a first-time host, accompanied by the Chair of “Technology- and Innovationsmanagement” (TIM) headed by Prof. Dr. Frank Piller.
