Prof. Dr. Lisa Spantig heads the Junior Professorship for Experimental Economics and focuses on financial inclusion, in particular access to financial services for people in poorer sections of the population, with a focus on countries in the Global South. Her research uses a combination of survey data, weather information, administrative data and decision experiments. The aim is to investigate how financial services can be provided effectively to these populations and how they can become more resilient to shocks such as extreme weather events or pandemics.
