Oliver Lorz wurde 1968 in Kassel geboren. Nach seinem Studium der Volkswirtschaftslehre an der Universität Konstanz promovierte er und habilitierte sich an der Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel. Vor seiner Berufung nach Aachen war er am Institut für Weltwirtschaft in Kiel, an der Universität Kiel und an der Universität Konstanz tätig. Forschungsaufenthalte führten ihn ans National Bureau of Economic Research, das Massachusetts Institute of Technology und die Massey University in Neuseeland. Seit 2004 ist Herr Lorz Leiter des Lehr- und Forschungsgebiets Internationale Wirtschaftsbeziehungen an der RWTH Aachen.
