New Member of the "Junges Kolleg" of the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts
Dr. Christina Büsing, an academic staff member of the Chair of Operations Research: Lehrstuhl für für Operations Research, was recently accepted as a young scholar into the North Rhine-Westphalian Academy of Sciences, Humanities and the Arts.
To promote young scholars and scientists, the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia with the support of the Stiftung Mercator foundation founded the "Junges Kolleg" in 2006. Up to 30 outstanding young scholars and scientists from any disciplines are appointed for a period of 4 years. This is one of the largest programs offered by a private foundation for supporting the rising generation of scientists and scholars in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The young researchers are given academic, financial and conceptual support. To be admitted to the "Junges Kolleg", a doctoral degree is a pre-requisite together with outstanding academic achievements at a university or in a research institute located in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. New members may not be older than 36 when they are accepted into the "Junges Kolleg" and may not hold a permanent university teaching position.
