As part of the project "Inclusive Growth for Europe", the Bertelsmann Stiftung's first European Policy Lab took place on 6th May in cooperation with the Progressive Center. Prof. Dr. Almut Balleer, professor of Applied Economics at RWTH Aachen University, was invited for discussion as an expert.
Central topic of the discussion was reform measures to stabilize the European Economic Area. Prof. Dr. Almut Balleer gave suggestions on the challenges, reform possibilities and instruments of European economic policy and the stabilization of the labor market. Prof. Dr. Anke Hassel, Professor of Public Policy at the Hertie School of Governance and Jakob von Weizsäcker, Chief Economist and Head of the Policy Department at the Federal Ministry of Finance also took part in the discussions. They identified the heterogeneity of wage levels within the EU as the central challenge to economic stability.
